Lavender Hand Salve — Balance Blend (Restored by Nature collection)

A small round tin of lavender hand salve for the hands that work. We made it for ours — a nurse's hands, washed dry; a farmer's hands, weathered by the rows. Then we put it on the shelf because we figured we weren't the only working pair of hands that could use it.

A small thing about the scent that's worth knowing before you open the tin: at first, you almost don't smell the lavender. The beeswax covers it. What you'll catch is a soft honey-wax note. But as the salve warms in your palms and melts into your skin, the lavender opens up and comes through quietly. The fragrance arrives second, not first.

This salve carries our Balance Blend of lavender essential oils — the gentler sister to the Bold Blend in our Temple & Tension Roller. Same four cultivars we grow ourselves (Grosso, Phenomenal, Sensational, and Bulgarian Vera angustifolia), just dialed toward more angustifolia for a softer floral finish. Bold cuts through; Balance stays behind. Both are right for different reasons.

Don't feel limited to hands, by the way. Knuckles in winter, elbows that lean on the bench, heels that wear out boots, that one rough patch on your knee from kneeling in the garden — anywhere your skin is dry, this works.

What's in it

• Nourishing Body Oil base (47.25%): A sourced blend of olive (extra-virgin), sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, argan, caprylic/capric triglyceride (MCT), and tocopherol (vitamin E).
• Nature Oil blend (35%): Organic sunflower seed, black currant seed, black cumin (Nigella sativa) seed, organic hemp seed, organic rosehips fruit, organic tamanu seed, avocado, and vitamin E oils.
• Organic white beeswax (12%): Holds the salve solid in the tin; softens at skin temperature.
• Organic cocoa butter (4%): Adds richness and a smoother glide.
• Balance Blend essential oil (1.75%): Our gentler lavender — Grosso, Phenomenal, Sensational, and Bulgarian Vera angustifolia, all distilled on our Tennessee farm. We farm without pesticides; we aren't USDA-certified organic, because the certification process is its own financial undertaking we haven't taken on yet.

Allergen Note

This salve contains sweet almond oil, which is a tree nut. Skip this product if you have a tree nut allergy. Patch-test the inside of your wrist if you're unsure — a small dab, 24 hours, see how your skin responds.

How to use

• Open the tin. The salve is solid at room temperature.
• Swipe a finger across the surface — a little goes far. Warming it briefly between your fingers helps it spread.
• Smooth into hands, knuckles, fingertips, elbows, heels, or any rough or dry patch.
• Re-apply as often as you'd like, especially after handwashing.
• For external use only. Avoid eyes and broken skin.
