Volunteering on the Farm

Volunteers always needed, always appreciated!

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” ~~ Elizabeth Andrew

Embracing the challenges of rural living entails pursuing more refined labor techniques, welcoming transformation, and acknowledging its perpetual metamorphosis. Unfortunately, aging is an inescapable reality, and alas, the legendary fountain of youth remains undiscovered.

We have received feedback from friends and visitors who want to assist on our farm. Hence, for our 2024 season, we are providing limited part-time volunteer roles. These positions will enhance operational efficiency.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in a chill, tranquil vibe, working the land, getting hands-on with lavender on a small scale.

As a small reward, each volunteer will receive a
bouquet of lavender each week they work & a dozen farm fresh eggs!

Volunteers must:

  • Be 14 years old and up
  • Not be afraid of getting their hands dirty
  • Commit to 4 hours weekly (2-4 hours a day June - August)
  • Tolerate rainy, hot, cold, and dirty conditions

Like any outdoor activity, there will be encounters with critters
such as spiders, ticks, snakes, insects, pesky mosquitoes, dogs, chickens, etc. All part of the joy in farming!

Many volunteer opportunites are tasks that include:

  • Planting seeds, plugs, plants
  • Deadheading, pinching, pruning flowers
  • Row weeding
  • Digging
  • Raking
  • Assisting with irrigation
  • Harvesting
  • Distilling

If you would like to volunteer or assist on the farm, please fill out our volunteer application.

Time to get busy!!!

When harvesting

What should you bring?

You never know what the weather will bring. Given the recent warmth of the last two years, it's crucial to dress smartly. And with all the recent rains, closed-toed shoes are a must-have, especially since there might be mud around.

Additional items you may want to bring:

  • scissors or small pruners
  • gloves (if desired) hat and sunglasses
  • water, or preferred non-alcoholic beverage
  • bench seat or folding chair
  • sunscreen

If you have a battery operated 8" trimmer, we encourage you to bring it for a faster and easier job! We will demonstrate how to employ it for trimming the lavender. Kindly ensure to personalize it with your name.
