From Curiosity to Cultivation: How Our Lavender Journey Took Root

Three years ago, we planted a few rows of lavender for its beauty, aroma, pollinator power, and potential. Honestly, we didn’t start with dreams of making our own essential oil—we just knew lavender felt right for the land.

But the more we learned, the deeper we fell in love with the process. After months of research (and more than a few learning curves), we took the plunge and decided to distill the oil ourselves, right here on the farm.

We started small, expanding our fields a little at a time. Last year marked our first high-yield harvest, and while we’re not trying to rival Provence, we’re incredibly proud of the quality that came from our Tennessee soil.

It’s not easy. Growing, harvesting, and distilling lavender takes time, patience, and a healthy respect for nature. But when that first drop of oil came through the still—rich, floral, and full of heart, it made every bit of sweat and soil worth it.

Want to know more about lavender? How it’s grown, what varieties we use, or what the heck a hydrosol is? We’ve gathered some of the most common questions into one spot, straight from the field:
